Credential Inspector – Infrastructure & Utilities
Job Description
We are hiring a seasoned Credential Inspector with a strong background in infrastructure and utility construction to support critical public and private sector projects in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in large-scale civil construction and utility coordination, along with a proven track record of managing and enforcing workforce credentialing and compliance in complex job site environments.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and implement credentialing procedures for all on-site personnel, including subcontractors, utility crews, and inspection staff.
Verify professional licenses, safety certifications, operator qualifications, and other documentation relevant to infrastructure and utility scopes.
Monitor contractor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to workforce access and safety (e.g., OSHA, DOT, city permitting requirements).
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and utility providers to ensure crews working on water, sewer, electrical, gas, and telecom systems are properly credentialed.
Track and maintain credentialing logs, digital databases, and compliance reports for audit and project documentation purposes.
Support site safety and quality efforts by identifying uncredentialed or non-compliant personnel and recommending corrective actions.
Assist in the enforcement of environmental and safety protocols related to trenching, excavation, confined space entry, and utility tie-ins.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in infrastructure or utility construction (civil, water/wastewater, electrical, gas, or telecom).
Certification as a Credential Inspector, Utility Safety Professional (USP), or similar credential.
Working knowledge of credentialing requirements for public works projects, including operator certifications, OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER, and CDL classifications.
Familiarity with city, county, and state utility permitting and inspection processes.
Excellent communication, tracking, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coordinating with multiple utility companies and municipalities on joint trench or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of GIS mapping and utility locates.
Proficiency with digital credentialing or compliance management tools.
