UT System – MD Anderson Facility Condition Assessments
UT Health / MD Anderson
Understanding the Challenge
The University of Texas System required a comprehensive evaluation of MD Anderson Cancer Center’s facilities to support long-term capital planning, deferred maintenance prioritization, and infrastructure modernization. With one of the most advanced and complex healthcare campuses in the nation, the project involved assessing building systems across numerous clinical, research, and administrative facilities. Challenges included the scale and sensitivity of the healthcare environment, maintaining operational continuity during assessments, and integrating data from multiple facility systems into a cohesive, usable reporting framework for strategic decision-making.
Our Strategic Intervention
As a subconsultant to Jacobs, PMG provided technical expertise and field support in the execution of facility condition assessments across multiple MD Anderson sites. Our team contributed to data collection, systems evaluation, cost modeling, and documentation in accordance with UT System and Jacobs’ standardized FCA methodologies. PMG’s assessors and cost analysts evaluated architectural, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems to determine condition, remaining useful life, and renewal costs. Leveraging our experience with large-scale institutional facilities, we ensured consistency, accuracy, and traceability of assessment data to support the UT System’s capital planning process.ents.
Transformational Results
PMG’s contributions helped the UT System and Jacobs deliver a detailed and actionable FCA dataset that supports informed decision-making, capital renewal prioritization, and long-term facility investment strategies for MD Anderson Cancer Center. The work provides a clear roadmap for system upgrades, risk mitigation, and life cycle maintenance planning. PMG’s precision, technical depth, and collaborative coordination with Jacobs reinforced the program’s success and demonstrated our continued excellence in facility assessment and asset management services for major healthcare and institutional clients.
